You Me Bum Bum Train

You Me Bum Bum Train is a magical journey in which people are able to go beyond their everyday lives and have a range of experiences that would not normally be possible within one lifetime.

Each show is based in an unexpected location. A disused building is transformed by a team of volunteers to host each new adventure. Tickets are increasingly difficult to get hold of; in 2011 80,000 people attempted to buy a ticket in under a minute and in 2012 You Me Bum Bum Train become the Barbican’s fastest ever selling show.

In the words of the New York Times, You Me Bum Bum Train ‘redefines what it means to be part of an audience’. Audience members or ‘Passengers’ enter into the experience alone and are catapulted into a series of hyper-real scenarios in which they experience what it would be like to be in someone else's shoes, to be uninhibited, and unconstrained by the expectation of others. Individual passengers are free to explore who they are in circumstances normally inaccessible to them.

Creators Kate Bond and Morgan Lloyd have spent the past decade developing You Me Bum Bum Train. The original concept was not defined as any particular art form. Shows were built without professional support or funding, simply for the sake of creating an exciting experience for unsuspecting audience members.  The unique format has since achieved cult status and critical acclaim. You Me Bum Bum Train was defined as theatre in 2010 when the show won the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award and the Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer.

Tickets will go on sale at a specific time on Sunday 7th December from the You Me Bum Bum Train website priced at £45.99 + booking fee.  For tips on how to get tickets join the mailing list at www.bumbumtrain.com. They ask everyone who experiences the show to keep the content a secret. Prior knowledge of the scenes spoils the impact of the show for future passengers. Tickets are limited and in the giving spirit of You Me Bum Bum Train we recommend to anyone who has experienced the show before to give their ticket to someone else.
